Kind of the marquetry in Japan
The marquetry is classified
in two by a processing
method.
Zuku: It is the manufacturing
method to stick
marquetry sliced like paper
thinly on a product.
Muku: It is the luxurious
manufacturing method
to process marquetry directly.

Marquetry of this boomerang is "MUKU".
The kind of the pattern
is "Bricks".
|
|
Reason of "MUKU"
The Japanese choose material
between the
bamboo and the wood from
ancient times. The
bamboo is flexibility,
and the wood is solidity
material.
But, "Zuku" of
simple pattern is
thin. It does not have
the strength of the
wood.
Then, "MUKU"
has solidity of originally
wood.
The wood shows an original
property. It is
happy for the wood.
Splendor of "Bricks"
This boomerang is used
the marquetry of the
manufacturing method called
"Bricks".
"Bricks" is a
simple pattern and
splendid marquetry of gentle
hues. But, it
was not a thing chosen
only in merely design
characteristics.
The old boomerang was made
from the big bent
branch. But, the modern
sports boomerang
(wooden) is made with plywood
not to be broken
by a shock.
When marquetry is used
as a board of the
boomerangs, it must be
plywood. And therefore,
the marquetry kept grain
of wood is necessary.
Marquetry with "design
characteristics
and the functionality"
chosen from such
a condition is "Bricks".

The right-side end of the
